My heart lay dead
Beaten itself to an untimely demise
I stand an empty vessel
Consumed by iniquitous lies
Shards of dreams pierce my soul
Life becomes second to fear
Impregnated with spiteful malice
Giving birth to a solitary tear
How did I let this happen
Just where did it all go wrong
My lover, now a mere temptress
Spewing her vile song
Love is like the sun
We depend on its lustrous shine
It fills our hearts with warmth
Yet inevitably leaves us blind
Our mind always knows better
It controls our sense of reason
To deny our heart is to deny humanity
So we let it commit its treason
Pain is part of living
Someday my heart will revive
I put my faith in hope
As long as hope’s alive
Beaten itself to an untimely demise
I stand an empty vessel
Consumed by iniquitous lies
Shards of dreams pierce my soul
Life becomes second to fear
Impregnated with spiteful malice
Giving birth to a solitary tear
How did I let this happen
Just where did it all go wrong
My lover, now a mere temptress
Spewing her vile song
Love is like the sun
We depend on its lustrous shine
It fills our hearts with warmth
Yet inevitably leaves us blind
Our mind always knows better
It controls our sense of reason
To deny our heart is to deny humanity
So we let it commit its treason
Pain is part of living
Someday my heart will revive
I put my faith in hope
As long as hope’s alive
